Catching up... and pictures.

It's been a while since I have sat down to blog. Mostly b/c it's much easier to do it from my phone and I have been on the road a little (going to make a map of it for fun, look for it in January).

First trip and best of all was a trip to DC to ask Jenn to marry me. I told her I would be there on business and asked if she would like to drive down to DC to hang out before my meetings. We decided to take a walk along the national mall. When we got to the reflecting pool I told Jenn that I kind of lied about being there and told her I was there to see if she would marry me. She was very very surprised and after asking "Really?!!!!" about 25 times she said yes! Convincing my mom (who also thought I was there on Business) that we were engaged took nothing short of getting Jenn, the ring, and that day's edition of the washington post in the same picture. For picture of our engagement weekend, click here.

Thanksgiving in Atlanta was a great time. Got to hang out with Hicks family, enjoy some excellent food and beer (I miss Sam Adams), see a great journey cover band at some bar, and dine at the waffle house (yeah I know it's bad, but homefries with onions and jalapenos???!!!!). Click here to check out the pictures from anywhere here.

From Atlanta it was off to Orlando for the Army Science Conference. I got to spend four days listening too and talking with the world's leaders in science and technology research. Topics included autonomous systems, nanotechnology, neuroscience, immersive technology and more. While in Orlando, I had the opportunity to hang out with my cousins Adrian, Lauren, Derek, and Jamie. We had a great time having dinner and catching up as we walked around downtown Disney.  For pictures click anywhere here.

After my conference in Orlando my choices were to spend 16+ hours on an airplane and head back to SLO for 3 days or to head to Philly to hang out with Jenn for a few days before my next meeting at Ft Meade in Maryland. Decision was easy, take the shorter flight ;-) While in Philly Jenn and I volunteer to help Harpoon launch it's first 'helping the less fortunate' event outside of new england. We, along with 16 other volunteers helped decorate Project H.O.M.E., in Philly. Harpoon sponsors 30+ of these events on the same day in Boston! For pictures of this event click here

The perfect gift after a long day of travel.

My cousins in florida met me at the airport with a gift of harpoon winter warmer. I love that stuff! Had a great time with them! Wish we had more! Maybe when they head to the central coast for some wine tasting? Family picts coming as soon.

A blury picture of a long trip from Atlanta to Orlando.

Took just about 4 hours to fly 450 miles. 2 hours 45 minutes of it were spent taxiing and in a bad weather holding pattern.

My fiancee who just met me at my gate!

In phoenix heading to atl for thanksgiving.

Spending my first thanksgiving with my fiancee and my future inlaws! Figured travel would be terrible. Other than typical USair delay seems ok. PHX is unusually quiet. Not complaining.

Hiking and running the Grade.

The Grade is a 3000'+ mountain range that separates SLO from the high desert. Today was my second time running along the top. Well running and hiking. It gets steep in spots. Definitely one of the best views in the area. You can see downtown SLO, Pismo Beach, Morro bay, and Santa Margarita. There are many mountains it SLO. They all look very big and steep, that is until you're on top of the grade looking down on them. Took a few pictures today. Check them out here.  What's up next in the blog? My apartment is always way to f#$%ing hot, so I have built some solar shields. Won't post the results until I get some data. Thursday afternoon, Jeff Boyce is flying in. Looking forward to some wine tasting, halloween partying, and hiking with a great friend from college! BTW, I can't believe it's been 14 years since we started college! On a quick side note, I miss fall. It's still 80+ and very sunny during the days here. There's no way it could be November in a few days!

SLO daily temp swings

It's starting to feel like summer here now. Highs in the 90's during the day... Then starting to feel like winter at night w/ lows in the 40's. A 50 degree swing once the sun goes down. At least my apartment stays at a balmy 85 when this happens :-(

Columbus day in Philly w/ Jenn

Just got back from a long weekend in Philly w/ Jenn. We fit a lot in to a short trip. Out to dinner, watched football, did a small bar crawl, made dinner and breakfast and Jenn's apt, went pumpkin and apple picking, saw some animals, made apple pancakes and apple crisp, and corn muffins, played $25 worth of Big Buck Hunter for $10 (Jenn worked out that amazing deal. My trigger finger still hurts!). For pictures click here. On a side note, my tickets we're not all that expensive for a holiday weekend. Just took 13 hours and 3 flights each way (yeah yeah took the settler's like weeks and many died, that was then this is now...). Next time it's 2 flights or less.  Oh and to make this more fun, landed in SLO and my car battery was dead. Airport people were great! Got a jump and was on my way in 10 minutes later and I was on my way.

Stay tuned for an exciting post this weekend as I discuss cleaning my apt...
